Moving Is Stressful; Stress Free Moving Tips

Moving is stressful, ask any real estate agent with clients, who are buying or selling a home. But, it doesn’t have to be.

There are stress free moving tips that a seasoned real estate professional can provide, which can make it a breeze! Check out these tips to help prepare you for your move.

Change your information
Before you move into your new home, change your address with the post office and update your utilities. Identify all the utilities you are responsible for and contact to schedule the transfers of service. Sometimes it can take a few days, so the sooner you do this, the better. Complete a change of address form on the USPS website for an easy transition with your mail.

Secure your packing supplies
Make sure you secure your boxes and supplies early in the moving process. Stop by a big box store to request items they might throw away, such as boxes, bubble wrap, etc.

Pack your belongings
Start packing items right when you receive your accepted offer. An easy way to stay organized is to pack one room at a time with correct labeling on boxes.

Rent a truck
Sometimes it is just easier to have the professionals do the move for you. You will still have to pack everything in your home, but let the professionals lift and take care of the heavy stuff. If you choose to move on your own, make sure you secure a truck early and get the necessary supplies, such as dollies.

Clean before you move
Do a deep clean before you move into your new home. Whether you hire a professional cleaning company or do it yourself, ensure your new home is clean and disinfected before you start to move items in.

Unpack with a purpose
Set goals when you unpack. It is impossible to be settled in your new home in one day, so set a schedule and stick to it. Unpack one room at a time and put your items away in the proper drawers and closets.  With this schedule, you will be moved in before you know it!

When it comes to moving it is helpful to find a real estate team with experience and contacts with contractors to make your move and experience easier. If you are thinking about buying or selling a home, call The Keith Albrecht Team at 317-580-9955 or check us out at https://www.keithshomes.com/.
