Fun Things To Do In Fall

Looking for some fun things to do with your family and friends in the Fall?  If you enjoy the Halloween holiday, there are several popular events to consider.  With some help from The Children’s Museum, The Indianapolis Zoo and Conner Prairie, here’s the lowdown.

Children’s Museum Guild’s Haunted House – Frightful Frontier

Round up the cowpokes and saddle up for a spook-tacular ride through the Frightful Frontier, The Children’s Museum Guild’s 57th Annual Haunted House. Chaos ensues once you board the last train to Tombtown, where goblins and monsters roam the wicked west!

The Haunted House offers AES Indiana’s Lights-On Hours (for children who scare easily) and AAA Insurance’s Frightening Hours (with the lights off, for children who dare to be scared).

ZooBoo at the Indianapolis Zoo   (https://www.indianapoliszoo.com/)

Is regular October too humdrum, but haunted houses too creepy-crawly? Come to the Zoo for super-duper Halloween activities, amazing animals and pumpkins galore! ZooBoo is always a fun family experience for itty-bitty ghouls and goblins, as well as the bigger kids. October weather means active animals, colorful foliage and a new season to explore. Combine that with engaging, hands-free activities, spooktacular costumes, and trick-or-treating — plus, the chance to boogie-woogie to a live DJ — and you’ve got an unforgettable family tradition.

Pumpkin Town

The Bicentennial Pavilion is home to a whimsical village with adorable cats, fancy rats and Mayor Jack who keeps guests on their toes with his boo-worthy jokes! One of our most popular areas, we’ll be monitoring attendance in this area to ensure guests have space for social distancing. Professor Pumpkin leads mystifying science demonstrations for little witches and wizards at Pumpkin School. Guests can also visit not-so-scary creatures in Jack’s Barn or the cats being fostered in Bewitching Bites.

Headless Horseman Festival (https://www.connerprairie.org/explore/things-to-do/fall/#headless-horseman)

The Headless Horseman rides again at Conner Prairie’s annual Halloween festival. Join us for an evening of ghoulish delights that the whole family can enjoy. Activities include the Headless Horseman marionette show, our scary corn maze, spooky storytelling, Halloween games, the haunted hayride, and more!

Corn Maze   (https://www.connerprairie.org/explore/things-to-do/fall/#corn-maze)

The 22,160-foot maze features three unique adventure paths to appeal to guests of all ages:

  • Puzzle Maze: Test your wits in our family-friendly puzzle maze. This maze may take up to an hour or more to complete. The Puzzle maze is closed during nighttime Headless Horseman events.
  • Kids’ Maze: Bring the little ones along on our shorter kids’ maze. This maze may take up to 30 minutes to complete.
  • Haunted Maze: Brave the spooky Haunted Maze after dark – inspired by  ghost stories and legends of the region.
  • Ride the 1859 Balloon Voyage for a birds eye view.

These three events are just a few of the highlights available for families and friends in October!
